 J&G Run for their Lives!!!

The staff at J&G Environmental in Blandford Forum put together a team of 4 runners for the Race For Life in Poole on Sunday 4th June 2006. The 4 runners were Julie Armstrong, Tanya Hurst, Sally Carrington, and Fiona Hewitt. Joining them on the day were also Fiona's two daughters, Jessica and Amy.
"We are all amateur runners and as a company we are heavily involved in local fundraising, so when we saw the race advertised, we thought it was a worthy cause" explained J&G Director Julie Armstrong. "I suggested it to the girls and they jumped at the chance of being involved. We all hope to raise around £1000 in Sponsor Money and we all enjoyed the day as well".
There were around 3,000 women taking part in the race and there was a really good atmosphere. A lot of the competitors had details written and attached to their t-shirts of who they were racing for and it brought a tear to your eyes reading them as we ran. There was a warm up by a representative from local radio station 2CR and the race started around 11.25am. We set off at a good pace and all arrived at the finish line within 45 minutes. There were a lot of spectators around the course which helped to spur us on.
Well done to everyone taking part and we hope to get a few more people from the company to run with us next year.
