J&G Sponsored Schools Photographic Competition
Monday 26th April 2010

The J&G Environmental sponsored schools and under 18 category of the 'Love where you Live' photo competition, run by not for profit recycling organisation Alupro, attracted thousands of entries vying for the £1500 worth of prizes. The themes of the competition were landscape, wildlife and people's impact on the environment.

Kathryn Oldroyd from Ashlawn School, Rugby, was the schools winner with Luca Pockley from Caerphilly coming out on top in the under 18 section.

At the prize-giving reception, head judge Rob Norman, picture editor of the Western Mail said: "There wasn't a picture there that the judges would not have been pleased to have taken themselves."

John Haines, general manager of Blandford-based waste management specialists J&G, said that Alupro's competition had taken the recycling messages out of their normal context of waste management and litter, into one providing a direct link with looking after the natural world. "We were pleased to support a competition which encouraged young people to enjoy being outdoors looking after their own environment."
