J&G Sponsored Schools Photographic Competition Launched

A new photographic competition for schools, sponsored by Blandford-Based print waste management specialists J&G Environmental has been launched at The Blandford School. The 'Love where you Live' photo competition, which is run by not for profit recycling organisation Alupro, asks schools across the UK to show what they are doing to encourage their pupils' love of landscape and wildlife, and has £1,000 worth of prizes available.
Deputy Head Andrew Mead says: "At school we try to teach our students the importance of looking after their own environment. This is why the photo competition fits so well into the schools curriculum, reinforcing the need to learn how we all can take steps to do 'our bit' to conserve the natural resources on the planet."
The best pictures will be judged at an exhibition in April 2010, with prizes awarded to the schools as photographic or national garden vouchers.
John Haines, general manager of J&G Environmental, which frequently hosts school group visits to its factory, welcomed the opportunity to be involved with the competition: "We wanted to support a competition which encouraged children to enjoy being outdoors looking after their own environment, having fun while they learn about the natural world. Our business is all about recovering value from recycling, and one of the best things anyone can do for the environment is to make sure they recycle all their aluminium cans and foil, because it is 20 times more energy and carbon efficient than making it from the raw material, bauxite."
