 Double award triumph for Dorset company

A Dorset company has scored a double awards triumph after turning in a "staggering" business performance.
Blandford-based J&G Environmental, which supplies waste management services to the British printing industry, was one of the stars of the show as hundreds of industry representatives got together in London's Grosvenor House Hotel for the annual Quality in Print Media Awards.
After first scooping the Environmental Non-Print Supplier of the Year title, J&G went on to be named 'winner of winners' by taking the Grand Prix Award, given to the supplier making "an outstanding contribution to raising standards in the print media industry".
In a glowing citation, the judges said: "What this company is doing for the industry is staggering. It is changing the way the industry operates and demonstrating real impact on raising standards. Thousands of customers use J&G's waste management service and expertise, helping to change the way the print industry looks at, and manages, its waste."
J&G won the Environmental Excellence Award in last year's Dorset Business Awards after impressing judges with an account of its own environmental management programme.
The company employs 47 people at its headquarters on Blandford's Holland Way Estate, from where it has launched a campaign to persuade Britain's printers that their waste is a valuable source of raw materials. More than 80 per cent of the huge volumes of waste collected by J&G is now being recycled rather than going to landfill.
J&G managing director Steve Armstrong, who received the awards, said: "These awards show we're on target to achieve our ambition to turn our Dorset base into a national centre of excellence for environmental waste management."
The Quality in Print Media Awards, held to reward excellence throughout the industry's supply chain, are hosted by leading industry journals PrintMedia Management and The Print Business.
