Major New Waste Management Contracts For J&G Friday 14th March 2008
The CPI Group and Johnston Press PLC have awarded three year waste management contracts to J&G Environmental, Blandford-based specialists in the recycling and disposal of printers waste.
J&G will collect, recycle and dispose of all general print waste from the CPI Group's UK print sites. CPI are the world's leading producer of monochrome and two-colour books, producing over 500 million a year in their manufacturing plants across Europe.
CPI's UK group commercial manager Alan Cray, who has worked closely with J&G to implement the waste management programme, is confident that using just one supplier has enabled both time and cost savings to be made.
He said: "Having J&G on board has meant a better managed and well structured system which allows us to effectively manage our waste disposal costs".
J&G will also handle all general print waste, including litho plates and chemicals, for the seven Johnston Press sites located in mainland Britain. Johnston Press is one of the top three local newspaper publishers in the UK with a portfolio of 18 dailies and 291 weeklies. The company is also a major force on the internet.
Jon Roche, a Johnston Press divisional operations director, said: "The contract is a reflection of our determination to have an on-going and effective waste management programme that helps us to continually improve our environmental performance".
J&G looks after the waste disposal needs of some 1500 UK print companies and has a comprehensive programme designed to increase the amount of waste that can be recycled - currently the figure stands at over 90 percent.
