Oldest Printing Business Selects J&G
Friday 9th May 2008

Cambridge University Press, the oldest printing business in the world, has awarded a three year waste management contract to J&G Environmental, the Blandford-based specialists in the recycling and disposal of printers' waste.

Environment Manager Rob Marshall said Cambridge University Press recognised that it had a responsibility to the environment and that safe and sustainable waste disposal and recovery was a key element in their bid to continually improve environmental performance.

J&G are now collecting and processing all general waste, including litho plates and chemicals, from the University Printing House site in Cambridge.

Mr. Marshall said: "J&G have an excellent track record of doing what they do to the highest standards. They will ensure that we make the most of waste recycling opportunities at the same time minimising the amount sent to landfill. They will also ensure we are kept fully informed of changing waste legislation.

"Our policy is to regularly assess the impact of our operations on the environment and effective waste management is essential to our aim of reducing any impact to the absolute minimum."

J&G customer service manager Richard Spreadbury said: "As is to be expected from one of the world's leading names in printing and publishing, Cambridge University Press takes a highly responsible attitude towards its waste disposal which was in line with an increasingly environmentally-conscious printing industry."

J&G's comprehensive waste management service is designed to maximise the printing industry's recycling potential. Currently over 90 percent of waste collected by the company is effectively recycled.
